| In the Premier Division Cup Wolverhampton Development returned to the scene of their opening day 5-1 league defeat at Hill Top Rangers determined to avenge that defeat and they did enough in the first 10 minutes to show they would be no easy pushover this time. The visitors played the ball around well during the first half and were unlucky not to be ahead at the half time break. The visitors started the second half where they left off and within three minutes of the restart were awarded a free kick some 25 yards out from the Hill Top goal which Allen converted to give the Wolves a well deserved lead. Hill Top were unlucky not to equalise when a strong shot was brilliantly turned over the bar by the visitors keeper Bowering and from the resultant corner he was again on hand to dive and push the ball wide of his near post. The Wolves though continued to play with confidence but had to wait until five minutes from time to make the victory secure.
